An energy storage system is a device or group of assembled devices, capable of storing energy, that captures the energy produced at a time to be used later to reduce the imbalance between energy demand and energy production. The energy storage system helps the grid integrate renewable energy and contributes to a more sustainable future. There are many energy storage systems, including thermal energy storage systems.
An Israel-based clean energy company, Brenmiller Energy, which provides thermal energy storage (TES) systems, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Waaree Energies Ltd, India's largest solar panel manufacturer, to implement bGen thermal energy storage in India.
This announcement marks Brenmiller's entry into the Indian market. Under the terms of the MoU, Brenmiller and Waaree will jointly explore, develop and implement solar energy TES systems in India, subj Special Data ect to a definitive agreement.

Brenmiller's bGen TES system is a mature, scalable and cost-effective solution. The system enables 24/7 renewable energy management for industrial processes and power generation, providing critical reliability and protection against renewable energy outages.
In India, steam and other high-temperature processes for industry are mainly powered by coal, which accounts for about 25 percent of India's carbon emissions .
Brenmiller Energy has patented bGen thermal storage technology that allows crushed rock to be heated to very high temperatures using renewable energy resources and waste heat. They can store this heat for minutes, hours or even days before using it for industrial and power generation processes.
With bGen's thermal storage technology, industries can use this electricity, biomass and waste heat to produce the clean steam, water and hot air they need to make plastics, process food and beverages, make paper and produce chemicals and pharmaceuticals. . It can also drive steam turbines without burning fossil fuels.
“We have seen a massive increase in demand for our TES systems in response to climate policies, rising energy costs and challenges to reliability,” said Avi Brenmiller, president and CEO of Brenmiller. “Our team is delighted to collaborate with Waaree to bring bGen TES to India’s industrial and utility markets.”
“In India, steam and other high-temperature processes for industry are mainly powered by coal, which accounts for about 25 percent of India's carbon emissions,” said Hitech Doshi, president of Waaree. “We are focused on helping large industrial corporations, including beverage manufacturers, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, paper makers and more, to help them achieve ambitious ESG goals. Partnering with Brenmiller to implement their innovative thermal energy storage technology will allow us to significantly reduce dependence on fossil fuels .”
The collaboration between Brenmiller Energy and Waaree Energies Ltd highlights the growing demand for clean energy solutions in response to climate policies and rising energy costs. The solar-powered bGen thermal energy storage system can help India transition to half of its energy supply coming from renewables by 2030.
